PE500 plastic swing doors

Industrial swing doors made from high-density polyethylene for technical areas where the door leaf is exposed to continuous physical impact, intensive material handling and regular chemical washdowns.

Extreme mechanical load

Where raw load-bearing capacity matters more than surface aesthetics

PE500 swing doors made from high-density polyethylene are designed specifically for intensive material handling. They are used in logistics, meat industry, dairy industry and production nodes where destructive forces from physical impact are part of everyday operation.

While a stainless steel door can dent, the solid, typically 15 mm thick PE500 sheet is flexible and capable of reversible deformation. Due to its material structure, it absorbs and distributes impact energy, then returns to its original shape without cracking or splintering.

The surface is fully homogeneous, pore-free and coloured through the material, not painted. This means deeper scratches do not trigger corrosion, and no coating can flake off inside the food processing workspace.

The massive door leaf is held by a robust stainless steel torsion hinge system with adjustable closing force, ensuring fast two-way passage and draft-reducing self-closing even in the harshest industrial environments.

Engineering considerations

Material physics advantages of PE500 in industrial environments

Outstanding impact resistance

High molecular weight polyethylene does not break or crack. It can withstand repeated direct impacts from pallet trucks, hand pallet jacks and heavy meat trolleys.

Moisture and frost resistance

The material has practically zero water absorption. It does not swell from humidity, does not corrode from salt, and retains its operational flexibility in cold room environments.

Food industry suitability

The pore-free, non-stick surface is easy to clean in meat industry, dairy industry and food processing environments where hygiene and washability are basic requirements.

Where is it used?

Typical application environments

PE500 swing doors perform best where speed, washability and massive resistance to physical impact are the primary requirements.

Meat and food industry facilities

Strict hygiene environments where continuous washability, pore-free surfaces and fast passage for material handling carts are basic requirements.

Dairy industry and cooled technical areas

Wet, humid, frequently washed production zones where the door must withstand chemical cleaning and temperature fluctuation over the long term.

Logistics and distribution centres

Warehouses, picking areas and goods traffic passages where hand pallet truck or light machine traffic causes continuous physical load.

Supermarkets and back-of-house storage areas

Durable, fast-opening industrial passages between customer areas, preparation rooms, cold room anterooms and back storage areas.

Frequently asked engineering questions

Technical answers before planning begins

When is PE500 plastic better than a stainless steel swing door?

When material handling equipment moves at higher speed and the door leaf is hit directly on a regular basis. A stainless steel leaf may dent in this situation, while PE500 flexibly absorbs the impact energy.

Does the plastic surface remain hygienic and cleanable?

Yes. High-density polyethylene is pore-free, water-repellent and easy to clean. Scratches do not cause corrosion or coating flaking, so it is also well suited for food industry environments.

Can a PE500 swing door be made lockable?

Swing doors are primarily designed for unobstructed fast operational traffic, but for downtime or cleaning periods they can optionally be supplied with a lockable bolt or disengageable hinge mechanism.

Is the door leaf available in custom colours?

Yes. Natural and blue versions are the most common in the food industry, but PE500 can be coloured through the material, so it can also support logistics colour coding or zone separation.
